Severe Weather Conditions in UAE

Please be advised that severe weather conditions have impacted Dubai. This has resulted in heavy rainfall and significant flooding. As a result, delivery delays are to be expected.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will update as soon as we have further information.

National Non-Working Day in Croatia

Applies to DPD Classic

A non-working day will occur in Croatia on Wednesday 17 April due to government elections taking place.

Our colleagues are working hard to minimise the potential impact, however please be aware that as this is a non-working day, we do not expect deliveries to occur. The operation will resume as normal on Thursday 18 April.

Industrial Action in Germany

Friday 12 April 2024

There are various trade unions undergoing industrial action in Germany, including public transport unions which are affecting all regions across Germany.

As increased traffic and road blockades may result in delivery delays, our delivery depots in Germany are planning alternative routes for drivers in order to reduce impact. Noticeable regions that have been most affected so far are: Erfstadt, Duisburg, Lehrte and Belle.

We are continuing to monitor the situation and our partners will be doing everything possible to deliver all parcels on time, however we do expect a 24-hour delay in affected areas.

Industrial Action in Italy

Strikes have occurred in northern Italy around the Milan-Verona areas, affecting deliveries and onwards connections in northern Italy.

Areas affected are: Mantua, Cremona, Desenzano, Brescia, Stazzano, Rovato and Lupatoto.

The team are working to minimise any impact to deliveries and transit from these strikes, however please be aware that there may be a delay of up to 48 hours for parcels being sent to these destinations.

We will monitor the situation and keep you updated of any changes.

Hub Blockages due to Driver Strikes

We have been made aware that some contractors used for final-mile deliveries in Italy are on strike and blocking access to our Brescia Hub. This is not through the union and currently there is no definitive timeframe for a conclusion.

However, our colleagues in Italy are working hard to re-route deliveries across other locations to ensure that any impact is kept to a minimum. We will be closely monitoring the situation, and should it continue longer than expected, we will provide further updates.

Adverse Weather in Sweden

Southern Sweden is currently facing severe weather conditions (heavy snow and severe winds) and some major roads in the southern regions have been closed as a result. Please find below a list of the main affected regions:

Our delivery depots within Sweden are planning different routes for drivers in order to reduce any impact, however we expect up to 24 hour delays in affected areas for the next couple of days until the weather improves.

A further update - the Finnish Automotive and Transport Workers' Union (AKT) are continuing to strike for another week from 1 April to 8 April. Again, the strikes will mainly affect loading / unloading within the ports, and there are also planned demonstrations in major cities such as: Helsinki and Turku, Hamina, Kemi, Kokkola and Tornio.

There has also been some areas of Finland which are experiencing fuel shortages. Whilst there are reserves and is not a big cause of concern, there are delays at fuel stations which is causing delays to some drivers.

Our delivery depots in Finland are planning different routes for drivers in order to reduce any impact, however we expect 24 hour delays in affected areas.

We are continuing to monitor the situation and our partners will be doing everything they can to get all parcels delivered on time.

Industrial Action

We have been made aware of industrial action at the border between Frankfurt and Oder that is due to last until Wednesday 20 March.

Currently, no traffic is able to pass through from both directions due to road blockades and barricades, and once reopen we expect backlogs. As a result, our trailers may be delayed. Our delivery partners will endeavour to ensure that parcels are still delivered within a timely manner.

We will keep you updated on any trailers and parcels that miss connection.

The Finnish Automotive and Transport Workers' Union (AKT) are planning to strike for two weeks from 11 March to 26 March. The strikes will mainly affect loading / unloading with the ports, and there are also planned demonstrations in major cities such as: Helsinki and Turku, Hamina, Kemi, Kokkola and Tornio.

As this may result in delivery delays, our delivery depots within Finland are planning different routes for drivers in order to reduce impact, however we expect 24 hour delays in affected areas.

We are continuing to monitor the situation and our partners will be doing everything they can to get all parcels delivered on time.

Customs Changes Update - Oman

Further to our previous notice, please note the mandatory requirement to provide ID for all parcels destined to Oman will now be effective from 14 April 2024.

We recommend that you continue to work on sending the ID to us within the initial data, so that there is no impact on service when this becomes mandatory.

For B2C shipments - The ID number is numerical and consists of 6-12 digits.
For B2B shipments - The Commercial Customs Code is required and this must start with the letter ?c', followed by 8 numerical digits

It is important to provide accurate ID information as any discrepancies may lead to potential penalties and clearance delays.

Israel / Palestine Conflict - Update

Further to our previous notice, please note that effective immediately we are making a change in Israel to our DPD Direct and DPD Direct Lite services, due to the ongoing conflict in the region.

Key points to note:
This is now a PUDO service only, so the parcels will be delivered to the nearest collection point based on the consignee address
Once ready to collect, a notification will be sent via email or sms to advise the consignee
It's imperative to have good data provision in terms of email address and local mobile number

The Air Transport surcharge will be increasing effective tomorrow (29 February 2024) as follows:

DPD Direct - no change, it remains at £7.17 per kg
DPD Direct Lite - increase from £1.89 per kg to £4.50 per kg

Industrial Action in Italy

Strikes have occurred in northern Italy for 3 depots, affecting deliveries and onwards connections in the surrounding area of Brescia, Bologna and Verona.

The team are working to minimise the impacts to deliveries and transit from these strikes, however please be aware that there may be a delay of up to 24 hours for parcels being sent to these destinations.

USA Adverse Weather Conditions

Our partner for the USA advises that adverse weather conditions have impacted the Northeast of the country.

As a result, there is significant disruption in transport and deliveries across the region. We are monitoring the situation with all our suppliers who will deliver as many parcels as they're able to, in order to minimise the impact, however there may be a 48 hour delay as a result of this.

Please be advised that due to technical issues with the new customs system in Dubai, we are experiencing some minor delays in clearance of goods being imported into Dubai.

We are continuing to monitor the situation and further updates will be provided where applicable.

Industrial Action in Finland

Various labor unions in Finland have announced their intent for industrial action from 14 - 16 February 2024. The strike will potentially affect the Turku terminal in Finland.

We are monitoring the situation with all of our delivery partners who will deliver as many parcels as they are able to in order to minimise any impact to delivery SLAs, however there may be a 24 hour delay as a result of this.

Industrial Action in Spain and Bulgaria

In addition to the French industrial action, our delivery partners have made us aware of farmer strikes and protests in Spain and Bulgaria. This action is expected to continue throughout the week.

Due to these protests, linehaul connections to distribution hubs may be delayed.

There is additional risk that other destinations may see Farmer strikes in solidarity with the French issues.

Should these occur, we will share further information on any regions impacted.

Our delivery partners will endeavour to minimise any potential delays to deliveries.

Chinese New Year 2024

Please be advised that the countries listed below will be celebrating Chinese New Year on certain days and there will be no deliveries in this period.

Parcels can continue to be sent, but will be held until the holiday period is about to end and will be exported in due course.

Final Mile Transit Delays

Austria are currently experiencing transit delays in the final-mile depots for the postcode areas 1210 and 1220 in Vienna. These delays are expected to clear by the end of this week, and for normal service to resume.

Our colleagues are working to minimise any potential delays to deliveries to these areas until the situation is resolved.

Oman - Customs Change

Please note effective 1 March 2024, it will be mandatory to provide the customer ID to Oman customs for the clearance of all inbound shipments.

For B2C shipments - the ID number is numerical and consists of 6-12 digits
For B2B shipments - the Commercial Customs Code is required and this must start with the letter ?c', followed by 8 numerical digits

There are 2 ways in which the ID can be provided:

1. Our supplier will contact the recipient via email and request for this to be uploaded, so it's imperative that valid email addresses are provided
2. The ID can be provided in the data sent to DPD, the correct field to provide this is in Receiver's ID. This is the preferred method as it means there will be no delays in clearance as the information is already provided

Industrial Action at French Ports

We have been made aware of planned industrial action at the French ports on the following dates:
- Monday 5 February 2024
- Wednesday 7 February 2024
- Friday 9 February 2024

We expect for there to be traffic barricades and blockades to stop vehicles offloading from the Eurotunnel. As a result, our trailers may be delayed as a result. Our delivery partners will endeavour to ensure that parcels are still delivered within a timely manner.

Industrial Action in France

Monday 29 January 2024

Further to our previous international notice, our delivery partners have made us aware of continued Farmer strikes and protests that have occurred over the weekend and are anticipated to continue into this week.

In some areas this is limiting several highways, which is affecting linehaul connections. We expect this to impact parcels due for delivery in France and Portugal predominantly, with delays expected across all lanes through Chronopost.

Labour Unions in Finland have announced their intention for industrial action commencing 1 and 2 February 2024. As it stands, this will affect airports, ports and other logistical companies. Some Pickup shops may also close.

We are continuing to monitor the situation with our delivery partners who will deliver as much as they are able to in order to minimise any impacts to delivery SLAs, however there may be a 24 hour delay as a result of this.

As of Wednesday 24 January, DPD Ireland have informed us of a rule change regarding the shipping of HS code 21069098.

Please see below some rules for exporting this HS code to DPD Ireland valid from 25 January 2024:
- Consignments must be B2C
- Combined weight of HS code 21069098 must be below 2kg per consignment

DPD Ireland will not import:
- B2B consignments containing HS code 21069098
- HS code 21069098 when 2kg or more

Industrial Action in France

Our delivery partners have made us aware of continued farmer strikes across France. In some areas this is limiting several highways and blocking secondary roads which is limiting linehaul connections and final-mile access.

The main regions affected are Valence, Clermont-Ferrand, Aubenas, Montpellier, Brive-la-Gaillarde, Nitre, Saintes, Angers, Poitiers, Quimper, Brest, Rennes and Vannes. Deliveries to these areas may see a delay as a result.

Strikes in Northern Italy

Drivers strikes have taken place in two depot in Northern Italy, impacting deliveries for 22 January.

The strikes are expected to end and normal service to resume on the 23rd, the team is working to minimise impacts to deliveries during this tine, and to resolve the minor backlog generated from the strikes.

Israel / Palestine Conflict - Update

Further to our previous notice, our DPD Direct and DPD Direct Lite services to Israel will now resume effective 23 January 2024.

As a result of high demand and limited space, the Air Transport Surcharge has been increased to the following effectively immediately. This applies to DPD Direct and DPD Direct Lite volume only.

DPD Direct: £10.23 per kg
DPD Direct Lite: £2.63 per kg

Denmark, Norway & Sweden - Reduced Airline Capacity

Please be advised that due to reduced airline capacity for Denmark, Norway and Sweden, we are currently seeing delivery delays of approximately 2-3 days via the DPD Direct Lite service.

Adverse Weather in Europe

Our delivery partners have made us aware of severe weather conditions in Europe today and it's forecasted to remain like that for the rest of the week, including severe snow, rainfall and high winds.

As a consequence of this, there is currently a driving ban in France affecting vehicles over 30 tonnes. Luxembourg's hub is also closed today and there will be no deliveries attempted today. Final mile delays are expected at other destinations due to access restrictions, with parcels likely to be delayed by 24 hours.

Our delivery partners will endeavour to minimise any impact to you and your customers.

Trailer breakdown and parcel delays

Due to a trailer breakdown occurring en-route between Hesingue (FR) and Hörsching (AT), we are expecting a 24 hour delay for parcels to Austria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovakia and Slovenia collected between Saturday 13th and Monday 15th January.

This is a one-off issue and we expect normal transit times to resume afterwards. We are monitoring the situation and will keep you updated of any changes.

Australia - Flooding

Please be advised that heavy rain and flash floods are impacting final-mile deliveries to the following regions: Southeast Queensland including Gold Coast, Central and Eastern Victoria.

Industrial Action in Germany

The German Farmers' Association, LSV Germany group and the German Train Drivers' Union (GDL) are planning to protest from 8 January for one week. This is due to the planned abolition of agricultural diesel and vehicle tax exemptions. Demonstrations are planned throughout the country.

As this may result in blockades and delays throughout Germany, our delivery depots are planning different routes for drivers in order to reduce delays, however we expect 24 hour delays in affected areas.

Customs Changes - Oman

Please be advised that with effect from 8 February 2024, the following changes will affect customs clearance fees in Oman:

B2C Shipments
All B2C shipments valued under OMR 300 will be subject to a customs fee of OMR 1 per shipment and will be processed through a consolidated customs declaration
All high-value B2C shipments (valued over OMR 300) will be subject to a customs fee of OMR 1 and an individual BOE (bill of entry) fee of OMR 5.
Irrespective of the shipment value, all B2C shipments over 20kg that require approval from the Food Authority must undergo individual customs declaration and are subject to a BOE fee of OMR 5

B2B Shipments
All B2B shipments, regardless of the value, will require individual customs declarations and will incur customs fee of OME 1 and a BOE fee of OMR 15 per shipment

B2B & B2C Shipments
An additional fee of OMR 5 is applicable to all (B2B and B2C) shipments that require approval from the Food Authority

HMRC HS Code Changes

From Monday 1 January 2024, HS code changes have been made by HMRC.

Japan Earthquake

Please be advised that due to the Earthquake in Japan on 1 January, delivery delays are to be expected in the following regions: Niigata, Toyama and Shiwaka.

Customs Changes - Norway & Malaysia

Norway - VAT Threshold Change
Please be advised that with effect from 1 January 2024, the low-value threshold of NOK 350 will be removed and VAT will be applicable on all goods sent to Norway.

Malaysia - Sales Tax
The Malaysian Government have introduced a new scheme for payment of sales tax, effective 1 January 2024. Sales tax will apply to goods with a ?CIF value' (cost of the product plus the shipping and insurance) up to and including MYR500, known as low-value goods (?LVG').

Registering for Low Value Goods (LVG)
You will be required to register with the Royal Malaysian Customs department if your total sales value of LVG into Malaysia in the previous 12 months exceeds RM500,000 (approximately £84,500). A registered seller will be assigned an LVG registration number and will be required to charge, collect and remit sales tax on LVG. You can register for Malaysian tax using this link: https://lvg.customs.gov.my.

Once registered for GST, you are required to charge and account for 10% sales tax on B2C sales made to customers in Malaysia. This is based on the price of the product, excluding shipping and any other costs. All retailers are requested to provide their GST registration number in the data provided to their carrier.

Adverse Weather - Northern Ireland

Due to adverse weather, we expect an impact on Northern Ireland services for volumes collected on 20 and 21 December.

As a consequence of the high winds, there has been flight and ferry cancellations and roads in the final-mile may be impacted.

Our delivery partners will endeavour to minimise the impact on deliveries. We may see delays of up to 24 hours but we will continue to monitor the situation.

Delays - Kuwait

Please note that due to the recent passing of Kuwait's Emir, Sheik Nawaf, the teams will not be working at full capacity in Kuwait. This means there are likely to be delays to deliveries this week.

Operations are expected to resume back to full capacity from 20 December.

Delays - High Volumes (Australia and Republic of Ireland)

Australia - due to high domestic and international volumes in the Australian network, we are experiencing customs clearance and final-mile delays. Therefore, please expect a 48-72 hour delay.

Republic of Ireland (DPD Direct) - due to higher than forecasted volumes in the AN Post network, delivery delays of 24-48 hours are currently to be expected.

Our partners are doing everything possible to get all parcels delivered and we'll continue to monitor the situation over the next few days.

Swiss Duty and VAT Regulations Changes

Thursday 14 December 2023

Please be aware that from 1 January 2024 the way Switzerland consider and calculate Duty and VAT payments is changing.

Duty payments will no longer be charged to HS codes between chapters 25-35, and 38-97, regardless of goods origin (VAT will still be applied).

VAT standard rates are changing for 7.7% to 8.1% and VAT Reduced Rates are changing from 2.5% to 2.6%.

Tropical Cyclone Jasper

Predict Notification Outage - Netherlands

DPD Netherlands have advised us that they are experiencing a data processing delay for DPD Predict. As a result, some recipients in the Netherlands are receiving Predict notifications late, or not at all. Please note this is not affecting duty payment notifications, only notifications for delivery.

They have created a cross-functional project team to tackle this issue, however it is expected to continue into the next two weeks, as data volumes will remain high. Our colleagues will endeavour to deliver parcels in a timely manner, and we would ask that customers advise recipients that notifications may be late or missed.

Adverse Weather in Bulgaria

Our partners in Bulgaria have informed us that severe snow has blocked the route our trucks take to get to deliveries for Bulgaria and Greece.

As a consequence of this, there is currently a backlog of trucks stuck on this road and cannot reach Bulgaria, and parcels exported since the 24th will subsequently be delayed.

Our delivery partners will endeavour to minimise the impact on deliveries, but an influx of volume when the roads clear may also result in a backlog to be cleared. They aim to deliver the parcels as soon as possible.

We have been made aware of industrial action taking place in Northern areas of Italy.

The next strike action on 29 November may impact deliveries and collections on the day, and there may be an impact on the days following, depending on the backlog.

We will remain close to the situation and monitor for any potential delays caused by this, and our delivery partners will endeavour to fulfil all deliveries to the best of their ability.

Industrial Action - Italy

We have been made aware of industrial action taking place in Northern areas of Italy.

This strike action on the 17 November will likely impact deliveries and collections on the day, and there may be an impact on the days following depending on the backlog.

We will remain close to the situation and monitor for any potential delays caused by this, and our delivery partners will endeavour to fulfil all deliveries to the best of their ability.

Singapore GST Changes

With effect from 1 January 2024, the Singapore Government has increased the National Rate Tax (GST) from 8% to 9% in 2024.

The duty threshold will remain at SG$400 so shipments below SG$400 will not require GST payment, except for controlled items.

If the importer has obtained an in-payment permit with an 8% GST rate but is unable to clear their goods by 31 December 2023, they can still use this permit after the date as long as it remains valid. However, the importer must also apply for a GST Short-Payment Permit (SPGST) to address the 1% GST shortfall for their goods before clearing.

Flooding and Heavy Rain in Northern France

Please be aware there is currently flooding in the north of France and heavy rain is forecast to continue. The rain is already causing some areas to be blocked.

Our colleagues are taking diversions where possible, but we are seeing impact on some specific postcode areas which are: 62500, 62360, 62650, 62170, 62380, 82650, 62575, 62129, 62910, 62960, 62145.

Following the Ciaran storm which swept across the West of France last night, we would like to inform you that there has been a safety ban on trucks from the Morbihan, Côtes d'Armor, Manche and Finistère regions.

A traffic restriction is also in place for light vehicles in Finistère and in the Saint Malo and Dinard areas.

As a result, delivery delays are to be expected today and tomorrow in the following regions: BREST, QUIMPER, LORIENT, VANNES, SAINT BRIEUC, CARENTAN, CAEN and RENNES Postcode Regions: 29,35,22,56,50

Delays may also occur in Charente-Maritime and Maine-et-Loire

Further to our other notice, we have now managed to secure flights from 19 October, however there is large demand for space.

As a result of this, the Air Transport Surcharge will now be increased from £2.55 to £7.05 per kg effective 1 November 2023. This applies to Air Express and Air Classic volume only.

Delivery delays are still to be expected as flight frequency has reduced. We are monitoring the situation and will provide further updates.

Each piece of information (Consignee Name/Attention of, Street Address, City, State, Zip Code, Phone Number and Email Address) should be provided in the data you send to DPD.

The below abbreviations are recommended for use where addresses are long, this will eliminate the possibility of address information being truncated.

Revised VAT for Turkey

Customs Regulations Reminder for Canada

Please be advised that all shipments destined to Canada must have clear customs data with full and clear commodity descriptions specifying exactly what is being sent.

Failure to provide this may cause a delay in customs and will be subjected to a customs penalty of 10 USD, which will be billed back to the shipper.

Please refer to the following:
- Customs data must be in English, containing full shipper and consignee name, address and contact details
- Descriptions are not vague (i.e. clothing) and are clear, such as "Men's Leather Jacket"
- If a parcel has more than one item, each item must be listed separately with the individual value
